Lauren & Craig

I was privaliged to be asked to photograph Lauren and Craig’s wedding after previously photographing Lauren’s sisters wedding a couple of years before.
The day was a beautiful, sunny occasion at a local village and with everyone in high spirits it was a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish!
Lauren chose to get ready at their home in Whitby surrounded by her four bridesmaids and two flower girls. Hair and makeup was done by ‘Colour Me’ a local salon and Lauren chose a delicate updo which complemented the low cut back of her stunning dress! I photographed everyone getting ready along with her dress, jewellery and shoes before making my way over to the grooms party!
It’s not often I get chance to photograph the groom before the ceremony but I’d been asked to photograph Craig and his bestman at their local pub ‘The Stiddy’. I always find this makes a lovely addition to the photographs as it captures both sides of the wedding party before they get to see each other, giving them both a sneak peak at what went on before.
The couple got married locally at St Oswald's church in Lythe and what a beautiful church it is. Standing alone surrounded by beautiful views it makes a great location for photographs and has a lovely warm feel inside, only intensified by the warmth and excitement of the guests.
Once the happy couple were officially declared man and wife the guests were handed some confetti and I was able to capture that traditional ‘confetti shot’ outside the church. It was here I also captured the group shots before being able to slip Lauren and Craig away for some alone shots in some nearby fields. They were both a natural in front of the camera and it being able to capture the love between them was effortless.
The reception was also being held locally in a marquee at Craigs local cricket club. The couple were treated to a ‘cricket bat’ guard of honour exit from the church and it was a great touch that the venue held a link to them.
Guests were treated to a delicate afternoon tea which went perfectly with the sunny weather outside followed by some great speeches! As always it’s a great time to capture the guests and their reactions at what stories are being told!
After food Lauren, Craig and I took another break to capture some shots in a nearby woodland. This was a beautiful moment as I knew it was a special place to them as it’s where they walk their dog together. The green backdrop made for some stunning shots of them both together and individually!
We made our way back to the party where I took the opportunity to capture all the effort Lauren and Craig had gone into with the planning. They had outside games for guests to enjoy and quirky hay bales used as seats! They had a selection of yummy cupcakes decorated perfectly to match the colour scheme of the wedding.
The bride and groom took to cutting their simplistic but stunning wedding cake and in no time at all it was time for the couple to take to the floor for their first dance.
It wasn’t long before the guests were joining them and the evenings live band ‘Forever Sunday’ started. It was clear to see from the constant smiles on everyone’s faces it had been an absolute amazing day and I know driving home I definitely had a smile on my face!
