Katie & William

Katie and William chose to have a small intimate wedding surrounded by warmth and love in the lovely little market town of Helmsey, North Yorkshire. Their ceremony took place at a beautiful church followed by a reception at the Black Swan, a historic inn with some stunning gardens.
The day began with me photographing Katie along with her six bridesmaids and all the unique little touches that had been carefully incorporated into making her day special. The brides bouquet complemented the bridesmaids pastel dresses and featured three delicate lockets containing pictures of those who sadly couldn't be with us but were sure to still be a part of such a special occasion.
As a photographer it always makes my day when the wedding party is a buzz and nothing beats capturing those special moments with hair, make up and plenty of laughter. Katies dress was a fitted stunning lace and she looked breathtaking. I was excited to see Williams reaction!
The wedding party and myself made our way to the 'Church of All Saints' where William was waiting for his bride to be. The wedding ceremony was an intimate affair and you could most definitely feel the love between everyone.
As it was time to exit the church the heavens decided to open but this certainly didn't dampen the spirits of the bride and groom and I managed to captured a couple of shots before a quick scramble to the reception that was only a stone throw away.
On arriving at the Black Swan I took the opportunity to photograph the reception room which was decorated in delicate pastels and beautiful floral centre pieces. Luckily we didn't need to wait long for the sun to be shining again and we made our way outside to capture the group shots. What was special about the reception is from the wonderful outside gardens the church could be seen and used as a fabulous backdrop.
I also used the gardens to capture Katie and William on their own, this is always a wonderful moment because it's often the first and only time the newly married couple are together on their own throughout the day.
It was then time for the guests to enjoy their wedding breakfast followed by heartfelt, light humoured speeches. This is always a great time to capture everyones candid reactions, they always make for great photos and memories to look back on.
This was followed by the cutting of their stunning three tier cake and as day flowed into the evening I continued to capture the happy couple enjoying all their hard work come to life with all their favourite people.
The couple took to the floor for their first dance as man and wife and I took my final shots of what was a beautiful memorable day! I left this wedding feeling like I hadn't just been a photographer but also a friend and it was an honour to be chosen to capture all Katie and Williams special moments.
