Cat & Mike's Wedding

I’ve known Mike since childhood so it was an absolute pleasure to photograph his wedding not only as a photographer but also as one of his oldest friends.
Cat and Mike got married on a beautiful sunny day at Fishlake Mill, Doncaster. There was nothing the couple hadn’t thought of and it was a day filled with surprises and sentiment.
I arrived at the stunning old windmill conversion where Cat was staying with her bridesmaids to capture the first precious moments of the day. The surroundings of Fishlake Mill were stunning and there was endless options for photo opportunities. I utilised the stunning venue to capture the bride and her bridesmaids outside before any of the other guests arrived.
On the guests arriving the weather was perfect and I was able take capture the relaxed and friendly atmosphere as they chatted excitedly waiting for the ceremony to begin.
I had been let into a little secret previously that Cat would be making her grand entrance via a horse and carriage accompanied by her mum and dad. As you can imagine this provided some amazing shots and to see the guest reactions was priceless.
The guests took their seats upon some hay bales and listened as Cat and Mike exchanged their heartfelt and personal vows with the sun shining down on everyone.
After the ceremony I captured the group shots outside the beautiful mill and took Cat and Mike for some shots alone. Their two special dogs even made an appearance to get in on the action. There was nothing the couple hadn’t thought of and Cat was keen to play around with some smoke bombs which resulted in some fantastic photographs.
The reception was held in a marquee decorated with a vintage feel and an amazing attention to details. Guest were able to treat themselves to a Prosecco fountain, a sweet table filled with the couples favourite goodies and admire a live artist capturing the day. All these fine details always make it easy for me to get carried away as there’s so many amazing things to capture!
After a stunning three course meal it was time for the speeches. Some wonderful words were spoken by Cats dad, sister and Mikes best man. The speeches always make for great candid shots!
Next it was time for the newly weds to cut the cake! This was a miniature version of the Mill and looked absolutely spectacular, credit to Mikes auntie!
As the day flowed into evening I captured the guests enjoying each other’s company and waited for the bride and grooms first dance.
‘High’ by the Lighthouse Family played and Cat and Mike took to the dance floor, they were soon followed by everyone else and it wasn’t long before the party was in full swing.
On a day full of surprises there was to be another... As the band geared up to get the party started, the groom took to the stage with them and performed a song on the bass guitar. All the wedding guests filled the dance floor and the after performing with the band the groom even crowd surfed in true rock and roll star fashion!
A perfect day was topped off by an absolutely spectacular fireworks display that blew the guests away.
Overall this was an amazing wedding, Cat and Mike had put an astonishing amount of effort into thinking of every little detail and it was clear to see from the packed dance floor it had been a brilliant day!
I was able to capture some beautiful photographs that I know they’ll cherish for years to come.
